Hakushaku to Yousei - Episode Six

This episode starts off in an interesting note with a pink fairy looking for Marigold. After meeting Marigold, she states she is looking for the Fairy Queen’s Bridgegroom, which in Lydia’s mind is another problem on her plate. After Marigold explains to Sweetpea what has happened with the ring, the fairies turn into their human form, Kelpie shows up and states that the moon ring is for Lydia.

After some arguing, Paul starts painting a picture of Lydia. During lunch Edgar and Lydia talk, and Edgar discloses that as a child he had asthma, and was kept in the house. As this episode reveals a bit about Edgar, this episode also reveals details about Paul in that Paul’s last name is actually O’neil and not Ferman. The reason for the name change is because his father switched names.

Besides this episode giving some details about Paul and Edgar, and developing the tension between Edgar and Kelpie, Paul is persuaded into poisoning Edgar. I thought the episode ended on an interesting note with Edgar being stabbed, while also disclosing information that Paul’s father was stabbed by the Prince eight years ago. And that is father is now fine and retired now.

Overall, I thought that this episode was good in that there were some nice twists in the plot. Despite Lydia becoming confused of who to choose between Edgar and Kelpie, I’m really interested to see what part Ermine will play in future episodes.

Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Episode Twelve

This episode has Ed and Al arriving at Dublith, were they are reunited with their teacher, Izumi. I thought that this episode covered a lot of material, as this episode crammed in the history of how the Elric’s meet Izumi, and the Elric’s survival training to get Izumi to train the Elric’s in alchemy. I thought that this episode re-enforced how a caring mother Trisha Elric was to Ed and Al, and that their father (Hohenheim) isn’t portrayed as a misguided alchemist like in the previous series of Full Metal Alchemist, but as a father that Ed really dislikes.

I liked how this episode showed Izumi seeing the truth about alchemy, and that is was good to learn if that if a alchemist sees the truth about alchemy that they are like a construction symbol, and don’t need to make construction symbols to do alchemy.

Overall, I thought this episode was quite good, and I can’t wait to see Greed next episode, as he was one of my favourite homunculus.

Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Episode Eleven

This episode of Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood deals with Al, Ed and Wirny visit Rush Valley and Rush Valley is all about Automail, Automail, Automail, Automail, Automail and more Automail. As Rush Valley is the holy land of Automail, it’s not long before Ed and Al get mobbed by Automail engineers and admires, and during the confusion Edwards State Alchemist watch is stolen by Paninya.

Soon after Ed, Al and Wirny encounter Paninya, the trio meet up with Paninya’s automail maker Mister Dominique. I thought that Paninya’s story about how she got her automail from Dominique was rather touching, as it seems his a character that has a though exterior, but a weak interior. I thought that the scene of Miss Sadila added to the story, in that despite alchemist being able to perform amazing things or feasts, that creating a life is more amazing then what an alchemist can do.

As I’m a fan of EdxWirnry, I thought that the scene where Ed is asked to help carry Wirny on his back was cute, because she can’t get over the amount of blood she witnessed when assisting in Miss Sadila babies birth. Despite Edward dropping Wirny on her back, I liked how this episode had Wirny tell Edward that she knows what he inscribed in the inside of his Alchemists sliver watch, as it helped Wirny realize to be more determined in being Dominique’s apprentice and not half heartily support Ed and Al.

Overall, I thought this episode was really good and if I remember correctly that in the previous series of Full Metal Alchemist that in episode three, Wirny and Granny weren’t present when Al and Ed burned the family house down, as in this episode Winry and Granny are present when Ed and Al burn their family house to the ground. I also thought that humour in this episode was pretty funny, and the drama elements of this episode added emotion to this episode.

Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Episode Ten

This episode of Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood deals with Roy Mustang’s goal to reach the top of the military to help protect people. This episode was interesting in that it has King Bradley meeting Ed and Al in the hospital, and warning them that people that have researched the philosopher’s stone have gone missing, and not to trust anyone.

I thought that the way this episode constructed Hughes death wasn’t as emotional and the previous Full Metal Alchemist series. Despite IMO (in my opinion) Hughes dying in this episode, I liked how this episode depicted Hawkeye and Mustang’s commitment to going up against the top people in the military.

Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Episode Nine

This episode of Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood basically deals with the aftermath of Ed’s and Al’s encounter with the Fifth Laboratory. As Ed is injured, he calls Wirny to come to Central and repair his automail arm. After Edward’s automail arm is fixed, I liked how this episode handled Al realizing that it is his real, and that his soul in an armor, and not a fake soul in an armor.

I thought it was good to see Ed finally beat Al, and the two of them decide to move forward and get their old bodies back. I thought that this episode handled the relationship between Hughes and Elicia’s well, though it was nice to see the relationship between Elicia and Wirny develop.

I thought that this episode end well, with the viewer being teased a little about the background of Scar’s right arm.

Overall, I thought that this episode was okay, though I thought that the best part of this episode is when Ed and Al fought each other in this episode.

Hakushaku to Yousei - Episode Five

This episode starts off with Lydia’s father recapping what has occurred, with Lydia becoming the Earl’s family fairy doctor. After this small little recap, the viewer gets a little flashback of Lydia’s past experience with men, and it revolves around a boy giving her a love letter because it was a dare. After getting a little bit of information about Lydia’s past experiences with men, Raven arrives with an art parcel, which is a picture of Tytania, the fairy queen.

After the scene with the art picture, Lydia resumes dance practice, and Lydia stubbles on Raven’s foot during practice. After Raven takes a break from dance practice, Nico comments on Lydia’s dancing, but the two of them are interrupted by a yellow fairy named Marigold. Marigold and Lydia talk a little, and Marigold decides to take the form of a small kid.

I thought that the scene where the dance instructor attacks Lydia with a knife was a bit unrealistic; though Marigold, Edgar and Lydia have a conversation about that Marigold has come for the bridegroom, to give the moon. At this point Edgar is a bit confused, but as Marigold is afraid of returning to the Queen, due to it’s impossible to retrieve it from a fairy by a human, Edgar offers Marigold to stay here, and Marigold accepts.

In regards to the ball scene in this episode, I thought that Lydia looked good in the white dress that she wore. During the ball Lydia meets Paul Ferman, who painted the picture of Tytania, and the two seem to get on alright. I thought that the scene of Nico drinking was good, but I thought his reaction to seeing Kelpie was funny. After Nico gets Lydia’s attention the two talk, but soon they are interrupted by Paul, and during Paul’s attempt to help Lydia, Kelpie puts the moon ring on Paul’s marriage finger. After Kelpie saying his not interested in Paul, Edgar enters the commotion, and Kelpie states he is going to take Lydia back to Scottland. After some tension between Kelpie and Edgar, Raven interrupts Edgar and Kelpie, and Kelpie leaves.

After Kelpie’s introduction, I thought that the scene of Edgar and Lydia dancing with one another was a nice scene, though I liked how this episode ended with Edgar receiving a letter saying that he is a pretender being an Earl.

Overall, I thought that this episode was quite good, as there was a fair bit going on in this episode. As Kelpie is introduced as another love interest for Lydia, it will be interesting to see how Kelpie’s relationship with Lydia is developed in the remaining episodes, as Kelpie seems to be a good rival for Edgar.

Hakushaku to Yousei - Episode Four

This episode of Early and Fairy starts off with Raven doing a nice job of making the Black Spectual Hound runaway. As Raven has been busy dueling the Black Spectual Hound, Raven notices that Lydia has disappeared, and Lydia has been taken to a prison underneath the castle. In the prison Lydia is reunited with her father, and the two talk about Edgar.

Soon Huskley arrives, and informs Lydia to go treasure hunting for the merrow’s noble sword. Lydia is forced to help Huskley, as her father is left behind in the cell. During the treasure hunt, Edgar and Raven managed to out rescue Lydia, but Huskley has Lydia’s father, and Huskley demands the merrows sword in return for Lydia’s father safety.

Edgar and Lydia soon comes across the merrow, but Lydia picks up the real sword, and the merrow informs Edgar a sacrifice is needed, and Edgar says he will be the sacrifice, and then Edgar is gone. After Edgar disappears, Nico arrives and he helps Lydia transport her to the merrow where Edgar is.

Lydia mangers to find Edgar and the two talk with the merrow about fulfilling their wish, and Edgar agrees. After Lydia and Edgar leave the merrow, I liked how this episode ended with Edgar sending Lydia a message becoming the Blue Knight, and that he has an exclusive Fairy Doctor, Lydia Carlton working for him.

Overall, I thought that this episode was fairly good, with lots happening in this episode. Seeing Nico is a tuxedo near the end of this episode was pretty funny, as I really like him in this series.

07 Ghost & Anime 21 Jun 2009 03:26 pm

07 Ghost - Episode Ten

This episode of 07 Ghost starts of with a funeral service for Mikage, and I thought that the next scene seeing Mikage playing with the cat, was funny and cute. I thought that Teito looked good in the black mourning robes, then the white ones in the previous episodes. I thought it was interesting that Castor would try and wipe out Teito’s memory of the Seven Ghosts, as it seems that information about the Seven Ghosts needs to remain a secret for some reason.

I thought it was interesting that Ayanami and Chairmen Miroku were able to see eye to eye with each other, as both of them could turn on the other, but they both choose to keep information about the Eye of Mikhail a secret.

As this episode delved a little about the Seven Ghosts, I thought it was interesting that Frau can use Verloren’s scythe. As it seems that Frau, Castor and Labador are three of the seven possible Seven Ghosts, I wonder I the series will develop into introducing the full Seven Ghosts and how they become to be a Ghost, as it would certainly make this series interesting.

I thought that the scene where Teito awoke when Frau didn’t mean to attack Teito was interesting, as it was interesting that Tieto’s power level seemed to be on par with Frau’s. I thought it’s interesting to learn that if Teito wants the collar around his neck removed that he would have to go to the military to do it, which would make things interesting IMO (in my opinioun). I thought that Frau having three commands over Teito was interesting, as the three commands that Frau has are bind, pain and sleep.

I thought that despite Teito wanting to leave in this episode, Teito decided to live when he was confronted with Mikage’s last words in the Bridge of Trials.

Despite this episode focusing on the small matters after Mikage’s death, I thought that this episode revealed a lot from a plot point of view, and will be interesting how the series will move forward.

07 Ghost & Anime 21 Jun 2009 03:23 pm

07 Ghost - Episode Nine

This episode was really interesting as the fight between Teito and Mikage was short, sweet and intense. Despite Frau interrupting, I thought it was interesting about the comment that Ayanami made, with Ayanami calling Frau, Zehel. I further thought it was interesting that Ayanami wanted back Zehel’s scythe, which seems to have once been held by Ayanami.

Mikage’s death scene in this episode I felt has handled rather well, and including a flashback of Mikage and Teito being friends also added to the drama of this episode.

I thought that the aftermath of Mikage dying was rather interesting, with Mikage’s soul being reborn. I thought that the bit about the promise collar that Frau put on Teito is interesting, in that if Teito doesn’t see Frau for forty eight hours the collar will explode.

Overall, I thought that this episode was rather good, as it contained drama and comedy well. I thought that the teasers about possibly Ayanami’s past experience with Frau and the scythe were interesting, and hope this is developed in the remaining episodes of 07 Ghost.
