07 Ghost - Episode Three

This episode of 07 Ghost confirms one thing about District 7, and that is that the sisters are very cute and adorable. Anyway the highlight for me in this episode is Tieto looking embarrassed and cute, with Labador’s good luck charm in his hair. As this episode is mainly about Tieto getting used to District 7’s routine and lifestyle, Tieto learns in this episode that food is very different to the food in the Empire, as eye fish and eatable flowers. The eating rules in District 7 are interesting, as one is not able to eat meat, and that the church is only able to serve basic dishes consisting of shellfish, vegetables and fish.

After Tieto learns about the lifestyle in District 7, during the night Tieto meets an old man whose wife had passed away, and leads Tieto on about that some person may be able to grant him a wish, but here’s the catch he has to meet him again at midnight. While Tieto is thinking about Mikage, Tieto tries to escape from the church, but during the escape he is meet by Frau. With Frau and Tieto staring each other down, the two fight each other, and the viewer learns more about Zaiphon, the ability to manipulate a user’s emotions, and form into words surrounding the caster’s hands. Anyway for the get go, it was obvious that Tieto would lose against Frau, simply because it seems that Frau is quite experienced.

While Tieto is busy learning more about District 7, Mikage on the other hand is forced by Ayanami choose between Tieto and his younger sister. After Tieto is knocked out by Frau, at midnight Tieto meets that old man he meet earlier that night about getting a wish granted.

Overall, I thought that this episode was quite interesting, and the viewer got a little sneak peek at the henchmen under Ayanami. I thought that the small child like person, with an eye patch, that is being carried by another of Ayanami’s henchmen is so cute. I can’t wait to see more of him.

Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Episode Three

This episode of FMA: Brotherhood is basically episodes one and two of the previous FMA series, compacted into one episode. This episode has Elric brothers crossing paths with Father Cornello.

One thing that I did notice that I found interesting is that this episode used the split screen technique a fair bit in this episode, and I found this a bit odd because usually this direction technique usually occurs in Gundam series, so I was pretty surprised that this direction technique was used a fair bit in this episode.

What I thought was pretty funny in this episode was all the SD moments in this episode, especially when Edward transformed his arm into a big knife like cutting tool, when Rose, Al and Edward were escaping from Father Cornello use of Alchemy.

As Lust and Gluttony appeared in the last scene of this episode, I’m really interested in what plan that the two came up with, and why they used Father Cornello and not someone else? Questions, questions, but I hope everything will come together from a plot point of view in the near future.

Gundam 00 - Episode Fourty Four

As the previous episode ended with a little cliffhanger, with some undercover federation officers finding where Marina is hiding out with other Katalan members, I really didn’t care if or not Marina survived the ambush or not, simply because she’s not a character I particular like, but IMO it would of be more interesting if the assignation attempt actually worked, instead of going down the path of Marina surviving and more than likely being a figurehead of the Kingdom of Azadistan.

As this episode is centered around the capture of the innovator Revive Revival by the Celestial Being, I thought that this episode gave a more look at what the capabilities of the Cherudium Gundam, as the shield bits used by Cherudium can also be used in attack mode, which IMO makes Gundam Cherudium quite versatile. In regards to the particle emission talk that Saji has with Louise in this episode, I really wonder why Louise has a gun, and Saji doesn’t, but IMO I think that scene is to show that the two still some way to go before they get back together.

As the innovator Revive gets captured by Teria in this episode, I thought that the fight scene between Teria and Revive was quick and intense, but the best element about the fight between the pair, is that we get to see the Gundam Seraphim in action in this episode.

As Anew has been hinted at being an innovator in this series, I thought that the scene where Anew is forced to show her true colours is that I would have preferred that Anew have the ability to try and not listen to her innovator side, as it would be interesting viewing to she Anew or any innovator struggle with this issuie.

Overall, I thought that this episode was pretty solid, but seeing Nena Trinity turn on
Wang Liu Mei and her brother in her Throne Gundam was the highlight IMO of this episode.

Persona: - Trinity Soul - Episode Twenty Three

After the events of the last episode, this episode starts of with Shin waking up in a hospital, where Kanaru is sitting in a chair waiting for him to awake. After Shin has a small talk with Sanada, the police go through the equipment left at the Morimoto headquarters, and they investigate the man-made Bio-nerds made of stem cells, that have a body composition of very close to that of a human. In this episode it’s revealed that Kanaru is an older version of the Bio-nerds that was created by the Morimoto Group, and that her life span is six months over due.

After Kanaru’s detail is revealed to the viewer, Kanaru says her good bye’s to Megumi and Sakakiba. After Kanaru says he goodbye’s to Megumi and Sakakiba, Shin finds Kanaru at a children’s play ground, where the two talk to each, before Kanaru’s lifespan finally in cut.

As I agree with Shin in this episode that Kanaru is very cute, all I can say is that, why do some of the characters I like tend to die in most of the anime that I’ve seen. It’s not fair. Anyway I thought that this episode handled Kanaru’s death very well, with also throwing in some mystery about Ayame, Itou and what happened to Jun after the events of the previous episode.

07 Ghost - Episode Two

This episode of 07 Ghost has rescued by a group priests who live in district 7. District 7 in this series is also referred to as “The Zone of God”, where if even they are a criminal receive help. The people that indirectly rescue Teito at the start of this episode are named Castor, Labador and Frau. Out of three characters, I would that after viewing this episode that Frau is my favourite of the due to his personality, with Labador trailing second.

This episode has basically has Teito trying to understand the truth about the world, but he has difficulty trying to grasp what is true and what isn’t true due to what he learned while growing up in the Empire’s army. From Castor we learn that the Ragg’s Kingdom wanted to possess both eyes (The Eye of Raphael which was the Barsburg kept and the Ragg’s Kingdom kept the Eye of Mikhail) and the two kingdom’s went to war of eye various eye’s, and the Bursburg Empire was destroyed.

Also in this episode we learn where 07 Ghost is titled, as one of the sister’s explains to Teito that a God Demon named Verloren, committed a grave sin, and escaped to Earth. The Chief of Heavens was grieved of what was happening on Earth, and sent down seven rays of light in order to stop the evil Verloren. The “Seven Ghosts” they managed to seal Verloren away.

As a lot of this episode focused on Tieto in District 7, I thought the last of this episode was interesting as Mikage is forced by Ayanami to choose between Tieto and his family, which should make future episodes interesting.

Overall, I felt that this episode was fairly solid, as this episode fleshed out the background of the 07 Ghost world a little. With Teito now challenging himself to learn the real truth about his world, it should make things more interesting for Teito to develop over future episodes.

Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Episode Two

Before going into the review for this episode of Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, I made a little promise that during this new production of the Full Metal Alchemist that I wouldn’t write anything comparing the this production against the previous series of Full Metal Alchemist, so there will be no comparisons between this episode and episode three of the previous Full Metal Alchemist series, as much as I want to do this. My reason behind this is to not degrade or play favourites or play sides because that won’t be fair because there’s different production crew and staff working on the FMA franchise. I’m just trying to be a bit mature about this, though I more then happy to hear people views and opinion’s and respect them. I will admit I did re-watch episode three of the previous FMA series for a certain reason, after viewing this episode, but I don’t discuss why.

This episode of FMA deals with Ed and Al committing human transmutation, and Ed being recruited by Roy to be a State Alchemist. I thought that this episode was good to see some to the relationships between the characters, like Ed, Al and Winry.

One thing I haven’t yet to get over while watching this incarnation of FMA: Brotherhood is the art direction and character designs, but I’m hoping to get over this issue soon. Overall, this episode was rather solid, and from a plot point of view things should start moving judging from the next episode preview, with Ed and Al meeting Rose in Loir.

Anime & Persona - Trinity Soul - 13 Apr 2009 04:29 pm

Persona - Trinity Soul -: Episode Twenty Two

This episode of Persona – Trinity Soul – deals with the Morimoto group, and Ayame end up killing Soutarou, due to attacking Ayame. As this series has given hints that Kanaru is something different then a normal persona user in this series, this episode confirms what Kanaru really is. While Jun and Kana are at Morimoto headquarters, Sanada is told to cover up the secrets that he has found by the Morimoto group, by his superiors. With Sanada now placed in a difficult position, Shin, Megumi and Takurou and their persona’s head to the Morimoto headquarters, where Jun and Kanaru are.

When Shin, Megumi and Takurou arrive at the Morimoto’s headquarters, Ayame is beating down on Yamasaki, and shared the same fate as Soutarou. With most of the cast no assembled at the Morimoto headquarters, a short persona battles occurs, as Shin tries to rescue Jun from Kujou.

Overall, I thought that this episode of Persona – Trinity Soul – was very intriguing and interesting, as the way that this episode was a nice curve ball to throw at the viewer. As Sandra has been a interesting character in this series, it was good to see Sandra been put in his place by his superiors, as he is a character IMO that is willing to push people and his luck a little, while also being a good support to Shin. As my favourite Persona –Trinity Soul – female character is Kanaru, it looks like from the next episode preview that Kanaru will confess her love to Shin.

07 Ghost - Episode One

As I’m a fan of the shows that Studio Deen produce, I decided to check their latest production, 07 Ghost. After viewing this episode I really don’t now which character(s) will be my favourite, though it seems in generally that the female characters are generally cheerful. This episode centers on Mikage’s and Teito’s friendship and Teito dislike of Ayanami.

The background of 07 Ghost is that it is a manga that is written and illustrated by Yuki Amemiya and Yukino Ichihara. Also most of he cast the participated in the 07 Ghost drama CD’s return to their respective roles. One little detail that I picked up from reading only one chapter of the manga that in the manga version of 07 Ghost that Teito’s hair colour is blue, and has blue eyes. I would have preferred if Studio Deen followed the original hair and eye colour for Teito, as this makes my decision to possibly or not cosplay as Teito, all the more difficult.

Besides my little possible cosplay problem, I thought that the opening and closing themes were decent. Overall, I thought that this episode followed the manga pretty faithfully, and hoping that the rest of this series is as interesting as this episode.

Gundam 00 - Episode Fourty Three

This episode of Gundam 00 starts with a four month time skip, the reconstruction of the Africa tower has occurred, with the electricity supply from the Africa tower being reestablished. Also the first Earth Federation leader declares that the A-Laws will command the Earth Federation Army. While the President of the Earth Federation is giving his speech, the Celestial Being attacking the Memento Mori two, and manage to destroy it.

As Ribbons has been busy during this time, Regene Regetta has also been busy meeting with Wang Liu Mei on a regular basis, which suggests that the pair of them are scheming their own plans, and possible or not out smart Ribbons. This episode also shows that Wang Liu Mei is feed up with Nena Trinity, and it will be interesting to see who their rocky relationship develops. The relationship that got my attention in this episode that caught my eye was Lockon X Anew. Even though Lockon suspects Anew may or may not be an innovator it still doesn’t deter him declaring his feeling towards Anew in this episode.

I thought that the way this episode end with the various characters from the Celestial being saying to themselves so they like, I thought it was funny that Teria said Veda and Setsuna said Gundam. Anyway next episode should be interesting, as weather or not the Celestial Being group can capture an innovator, and possibly get Veda’s location.

Gundam 00 - Episode Forty Two

Continuing my backlog of this show, this episode wraps up the coup d’etat from Hercules. I liked how his episode should some friction between Hercules and Sergei, as I like seeing the ideals and viewpoint that different characters have. After the episode shows the destruction of the Africa tower, I thought it was cool showing all the forces in this series (A-Laws, Celestial Being, regular army and the coup de’etat faction) try a save lives, by shooting the debris from the Africa tower. While most of the characters are focused on shooting the debris of the Africa tower, Andrei engages his father Sergei in combat, and well you can guess pretty much how bites the bullet in this battle.

Despite what happened in this episode, I thought this episode would have been more interesting in some of the factions actually fought their enemies while the debris of the orbital elevator was falling to earth, as it would cross mind to try a get a cheap shot against your enemy. Anyway with the death of Sergei in this episode, it looks like Soma (Marie) has got her sights firmly set on Andrei, which should make things more difficult for Allelujah’s relationship with Soma.
