As this is the last episode, and one would expect a grand finish to this series, this episode doesn’t disappoint the viewer’s expectation IMO. This episode wraps up this series, but the only way I can describe this episode is that is full of previous Macross references, and full of eye candy and action.

From a series point of view and being a Macross fan boy, I was pretty happy with how this series played out (though I admit I’m a little biased being a fan of the Macross franchise). From a musical/sound point of view, I was impressed with insert songs of both Ranka and Sheryl, and bgm score. I was a little afraid that this series may have poor musical component, as music is a core them of the Macross, a poor musical score would certainly impact on the likeability of this show.

From a story and plot point of view, it was interesting this Macross series take a different direction then other Macross series, as this Macross series seems to be more focused of characters, and use different plot elements then other Macross series, while also using references from previous Macros series, OVA’s and movies.

From an animation point of view, I was impressed by the CG of the Valkyrie’s by Studio Satellite, though from a 2D point of view I felt that the animation was inconsistent from start to finish, as the viewer IMO could tell when time was put into an important scene in an episode, and then there where times where in an episode where the characters where off model and not look solid. I wouldn’t if the animation team re-drew the poorly animated scenes, and this did occur with the Read or Die TV series, to make the animation of the series look better than the original broadcast.

Overall, I was pretty happy with this series, and with a Macross Frontier movie on the way, maybe the Macross Frontier movie will wrap the love triangle that the TV series failed to do (crosses fingers).

The second last episode of Macross Frontier is mix of plot and action.

117th Investigation convoy - We get some nice juicy details such as that Dr. Mao Nome (relates to Macross Zero) was head of the research team. We also learn that Ranka’s mother (Dr.Ranshe Mei) was the first patient with the V-type infection.

Grace O’Connor and Leon – I thought that a couple of scenes in this episode, that this episode depicted some creepy images of Grace O’Connor and Leon.

Alto X Sheryl – I thought that the scene in this episode where the pair kisses with the battleships in the background was a well done scene.

Battle scene - It was interesting seeing a battle scene with the NUNS crew battling the Varja, with Sheryl Nome providing an insert song also.

Giant Ranka - Seeing the giant Ranka in this episode reminded me of the giant Rei in the End of Evangelion.

The second last episode of Macross Frontier is mix of plot and action.

Alto X Sherly - This episode has the two play house, as the pair enjoys each other’s company, while having a home cooked meal with each other. The scene showed the different personality sides of Sherly.

Varja - This episode details the behaviour of the Vajra, and how fold waves relate to this series.

For the remaining episodes of this series, I’m just going to highlight some scenes of the episode, because of other commitments.

Sherly’s disease - We get some details of the Type-V disease that has been carrying.
Alto X Sherly - Well having Alto and Sherly appearing to spend the night with each other, certainly complicates the love triangle of this series. This series is keeping me on my toes how Alto will end up with by series end, but this is an episode for Alto X Sherly fans.
Alto vs. Ozma - The dogfight between the two near the end of this episode was simply awesome, as the pair duel each other like in the days of the samurai, and like Isuma and Guld in Macross Plus. Having a Sherly insert song accompanying the dogfight raised the excitement level of the viewer, and then if no insert song was playing in the background.
Leon turning on Grace - Well my simple reaction to the events is that despite Grace and Leon appearing to plot and scheme together, it was going to happen that one of the two got greedy and weather successfully or not, to out wit the other.
