Vampire Knight - Episode Eight

This episode of Vampire Knight from memory pretty much stays true to the manga counter part chapters. This episode is an interesting episode, as this episode deals with Ichijou’s grand father, and the vampire dynamics between pure blood and noble vampires. What this episode doesn’t show that was left out of the anime, is when Ichijou’s grand father leaves the academy, he passes by Zero, Ichijou’s grand father eyes Zero while walking past Zero. This episode also shows Zero playing tag when vampire hunting, in this episode.

I really liked how this episode ended, because the two mysterious characters will certainly add some serious spice to the life’s of the three main cast members (Yuuki, Zero and Kaname).

Code Geass:Hangyaku no Lelouch - Episode Forty

This episode of Code Geass R 2 has Lelouch go one on one with his father, Emperor Charles. I thought that Lelouch’s early victor laugh over his father wasn’t as epic compared to previous evil laugh’s from Lelouch, as IMO Lelouch’s previous evil laugh from the previous season of Code Geass was much better, when Lelouch acquired the Gawin, or when he found out that Suzuka was Lancealot’s pilot. Regarding this episode’s contents, the viewer learns more about C.C’s true wish, and her past.

Regarding Suzuka using refrain on Kallen to get some information from her about Zero/Lelouch in this episode, Kallen’s resistance reminded me of episode twelve of Yugo Negotiator, when Yugo deliberately didn’t think about some vital information, and pissed off his captives because they couldn’t extract the information from him.

Overall, I thought that this episode was rather average for some reason, though hopefully the next episode will be more interesting as it looks like from the next episode preview that the next episode will introduce more Round members, and deal with more politics of Code Geass R 2 world.

Macross Frontier - Episode Sixteen

This episode of Macross Frontier puts Alto and Brera rivalry to another level, as Brera in this episode accidentally damages Alto’s VF- 25 near the end of this episode, and embarrasses Alto in one of Alto’s school classes. IMO the rivalry between Alto and Brera in Macross Frontier reminds me of Guld’s and Isamu’s rivalry in Macross Plus, but Alto hasn’t said anything or done something to get under Brera’s skin so far. I think this episode would have ended better if Alto walked up to Brera at the end of this episode and had a word with him, like the end of episode one of Macross Plus.

My thought’s of the Ranka attack experiment in this episode is that it was massive eye candy, but if I was in charge of the operation, I wouldn’t have put Ranka in Canalia’s care, as IMO Canalia’s ship is one big target. I thought what Anita did in the Read or Die theTV series to hide one of Gentlemen’s books among other books in the school library (hide a tree among a forest tactic), is a smarter tactic IMO that should have been employed in this episode. Regarding Grace and Leon in this episode, I reckon in an future episode of Macross Frontier, that one of the two will betray the other, as IMO they both have different agendas.

Overall, I thought that this episode was very good, though I liked the arrangement of the ending theme of this episode, as IMO it mixed live action and production art of Sheryl Nome perfectly. Also as the title of the next episode is entitled ‘Goodbye Sister’ is looks like Major Ozma will get his pineapple salad next episode, and Alto will not throw any more paper planes anymore. On a side note I think it would be good if a micloned Klan piloted a red Valkyrie, for Macross reference reasons.

Macross Frontier - Episode Fifteen

My thoughts of this episode is that it was very good, due to having the recap of this series being directed in a music video style, which showcased action, plot, and music in one neat hot package. I also thought that the scene where Ranka and Sheryl are singing/musical fighting over Alto was another feather in the cap of the screenwriter(s) that put this episode together.

My thoughts regarding the early scenes of this episode, is that Ranka should ask for hospital pants, and then she wouldn’t have been embarrassed in front of Alto. On the subject of Alto, as he has now got a promotion in this episode (and got to see Pillard in this episode), the planets have aligned IMO to kill off Major Ozma in future episodes of Macross Frontier.

The only element of this episode that I disliked was the eye-catcher.

Macross Frontier - Episode Fourteen

This episode of Macross Frontier gives a little spotlight about Luca’s dealing with his crush on Nanase. Before this episode heads into the main action of this episode, this episode gives the bridge bunnies some spotlight, as they talk about their past and current love’s in their life.

The main action scene of this episode deals with lots of Varja defolding near the Macross Frontier ship, and the Macross Froniter crew dealing with the Varja’s attack. I thought that Leon in this episode was at his deceptive best, though I thought it was good to see the use of reaction missiles used in this episode. As the last ten minutes of this episode is about action, there’s plenty of eye candy, Itano circus and pretty fireworks/explosions.

I found the most intriguing/interesting element of this episode, is the viewer learns the identity of the mysterious pilot of the purple Valkyrie that seems to be Alto’s rival. The identity of the pilot of the mysterious purple Valkyrie is Major Brera Starne from the Macross Galaxy Antares Squadron. As Brera Starne seems to be the only survivor from Macross Galaxy, I hope an episode of Macross Frontier deals with some aspect of Major Brera Starne’s past, as it would make interesting viewing to see how he survived.

As this episode of Macross Frontier focused on Luca more than usual, I wouldn’t have minded to see Simon, John, Peter that piloted the Ghost fighters in action, as from Macross Plus, the Ghost fighter was a serious piece of machinery, and wasn’t to be messed with. Also during the big battle in this episode, this episode showed a grunt Valkyrie do a booster punch, which is a nice reference to the Daedalus attack or the booster punch used in episode four of Macross Plus.

Overall, this episode was a nice action oriented episode, with some nice little plot developments to add some interest to this episode.

Macross Frontier - Episode Thirteen

This episode of Macross Frontier is full of Macross references from previous Macross installments like Macross Zero, Macross Plus, and the original Macross series. If you’re an Alto X Ranka fan, then you will enjoy this episode. There’s also more Itano circus in this episode.

The ending of this episode I found to be very interesting, because the dimensional fold reminded me of the english dubbed titled episode called Burst Point (in the original Macross series) where the SDF-1 pin point barrier system failed, and their was a big explosion.

Code Geass:Hangyaku no Lelouch - Episode Thirty Nine

This episode of Code Geass R 2 reveals more about Empress Marianne and Emperor Charles. This episode also deals with the Order of the Black Knights and some other Code Geass R 2 cast members doing some damage to the Geass Order in this episode. This episode also reveals Suzuka suspecting who shoot Euphie, which in turn should make the Zero vs. Suzuka battle more interesting/intriguing in the upcoming episodes of Code Geass R 2.

I thought that Lelouch being able to learn the truth from Rolo was interesting, as it looks likely that Lelouch will use his fake brother Rolo up until his dry, and then throw him away like a ragged doll, like Lelouch said in a previous episode of Code Geass R 2. I also thought it was interesting in this episode, that some members of the Black Order being were absolutely ruthless and killing their enemies, while the other Black Order member’s don’t like Lelouch’s course of action. The ending of this episode was really interesting, as it ended with Lelouch face to face with his father, before the Sword of Akasha.

Overall, this episode of Code Geass is a good action and plot episode, and from the preview of the next episode, it looks like that the next episode might revolve around C.C.

La Corda D’Oro ~primo passo~ - Episode Twenty Five

This episode of La Corda d’Oro ~Primo Passo~ deals with the final selection. As most events have some sort of intrusion/disruption, the problem that arises in the final selection as Mori-san hurts her hand, and thus can’t accompany Hino in her performance. After some discussion, it is agreed that Shouji-san will take Mori-san’s place.

As this is the final selection, the male harem (Tsuchiura, Hihara, Shimizu, Tsukimori and Yunoki) and the female cast performers (Hino and Fuyuumi) have new attire for the occasion/event. I’m not going to say how the final selection plays out, but as this is a shoujo show, you probably have a good idea how this episode ends.

La Corda D’Oro ~primo passo~ - Episode Twenty Four

This episode of La Corda d’Oro ~Primo Passo~ has Tsukimori handing Hino an invitation to a event where Tsukimori and his mother will be performing together. As Fuyuumi has been missing in action in the previous episodes of La Corda d’Oro ~Primo Passo~, this episode has more cute Fuyuumi moments. As the previous episode of La Corda d’Oro ~Primo Passo~ had Kanazawa-sensei take away a cassasate from Hino and Amou-san, this episode develops more about Kanazawa-sensei wound and joy.

If your an Hihara X Hino fan, then you’ll enjoy the play date that these two have in this episode. If your a Shimizu fan, then you’ll be happy to see that Shimizu appears in this episode, and he provides Hino with some good advice in this episode.

The second half of this episode deals with Tsukimori and his mother performing together at a concert. As most anime shows has characters appear in stock clothes throughout their series, I was happy to see new outfits/clothes that the performing cast wears in this episode.

Overall, this episode is a nice filler episode before the final selection performance in the next episode of La Corda d’Oro ~Primo Passo~.

Macross Frontier - Episode Twelve

This episode of Macross Frontier deals with the violent Zentradi that hasn’t been talked about in this series so far. The leader of the violent/rebel Zentradi IMO reminds me of Kamjin from the original Macross series.

This episode deals with Sheryl and Alto being an item, and Ranka’s first live. I thought that the last couple of minutes of this episode were really good, as seeing Sheryl standing alone, with her hair blowing in the wind reminded me of a similar scene in the original Macross series with Misa. Speaking of the original Macross series, I thought it was evil to have Alto and Ranka to seemingly come across the generation one/original Macross ship at the end of this episode.

If the story writers were trying to link the original Macross series to this Macross series, I won’t mind seeing the original Macross ship fighting along side the new/current Macross ship, though making this plot element work is a little though.

Overall, this episode was full of the original Macross series references, and seeing all of the original Macross series references in this episode, is making IMO the remaining episodes of Macross Frontier that much more interesting.
