Back to School/University
I have started University again, so as this is first week back, I’m sorting out what patterns I will develop for this semester. It seems most likely that an update will mostly likely occur this week on Friday night, becuase I have Friday off. I will update this week, on the weekends also, though I will announce my update pattern most likely next week, or the week after.
Anime & Kurau:Phantom Memory 25 Feb 2007 05:37 pm
Kurau Phantom Memory : Episode Twenty Three
As the previous episode of Kurau:Phantom Memory ended on a good note, this episode picks off with Bindt trying his best to get as close as possible to GPO headquarters, so that he can get his revenge on Satiou. While Bindt is trying his best to get as close as possible to Satiou without being detected, Kurau is on route to get to the moon as fast as possible.
Kurau and Christmas have decided to go to the moon because Kurau determined that as Bindt is hurt, and his full of anger and sadness (while also being backed into a corner), Kurau wants to stop Bindt from killing more people. After this episode has built some tension on what Bindt plans on doing in this episode, the episode decides to focus a little on Inspector Wong, and his meeting with GPO Commissioner, Satiou. I thought that the scene involving Satiou and Wong was interesting, as it seems that Inspector Wong has been busy ensuring that his life is no longer in danger. Despite Satiou bring a little surprised that Inspector Wong is still alive, I liked how Inspector Wong told Satiou that he will be subjected to a questioning by the Internal Affairs Committee. What I liked about the conversation between Inspector Wong and Satiou is that Inspector Wong was mainly calm, and collected while he told Satiou that he will be charged with the crimes of all the people that disappeared in Switzerland, and for conducting experiments to try and create rynasapians.
Despite Satiou knowing that he can no longer cover all of his crimes, I found it interesting that Satiou questioned Inspector Wong’s loyalty to protect this world. As there have been very few scenes in this series, where we see Inspector Wong get upset, I found it interesting to see that Inspector Wong got upset at Satiou. Inspector Wong raises his voice at Satiou, saying that he is against his methods, (creating rynasapiens) to achieve a peace and protect this world, though still wanting to protect this world through ethical means. As Satiou is taken away to be protected from Bindt, I liked how Inspector Wong gets the last laugh, by saying that he will also be questioned about Ex-Commissioner Stiner’s death.
After Satiou is taken in protective custody, Bindt makes his move to kill Satiou. As Bindt has taken over a freight ship, to get past GPO’s security, I thought that the scene of where that Bindt uses a fright ship to passes through the dome of the moon, was a jaw dropping moment. As Bindt is trying to crash the freight ship into the GPO headquarters building, Kurau and Christmas mange to hinder Bindt from doing this. As Kurau and Christmas has stopped Bindt from crashing the fright ship into the GPO building, I liked how Bindt used his brains, by warping the fright ship around GPO headquarters, so that it would allow him to get as close as possible to Satiou. After Bindt has warped the fright ship around the GPO building, I liked how Bindy uses his rynax powers to discharge an electrical charge throughout the building, to find Satiou’s location.
I thought that animation of where Bindt is flying through the GPO building was impressive, on the fact that there was on CG used to animate the walls of the building. I felt that it would have been hard to animate this small scene, due to the position of the camera moving forward through the corridors of the GPO building, because it’s easier from a time perspective to CG this sequence. As this episode of Kurau so far has mainly been plot related, I liked the little scene of where Ayaka gets some character development, as she is chasing Bindt to have Satiou. As Ayaka is busy running into the GPO building to try and stop Bindt, Ayaka stops running, due to that she is upset with herself, because she has to protect Satiou, even though she doesn’t want to.
Ayaka is upset with herself because she is caught in a no win situation, and that she is forced to protect Satiou (is the moral thing to do), even though he masterminded the murder of her family members. After Ayaka has gotten some character development, Bindt finally comes face to face with Satiou.
I thought that the scene where Bindt kills Satiou was very good, as Ayaka (with gun pointed at Bindt) tries to verbally try to convince Bindt not to kill Satiou. I thought it was brave of Ayaka to try and stop Bindt from killing Satiou by shooting him, but Bindt uses his rynax powers to vapourish the bullet. As Bindt is about to kill Satiou, I found it interesting that Satiou called Bindt an uncontrollable monster. Despite Satiou calling Bindt an uncontrollable monster, I liked how Bindt replied that he is an even greater monster than him. After Bindt has told Satiou that he is an even bigger monster than him, Bindt uses his powers to vapourish Satiou into nothingness.
As Satiou died in this episode, I for one was happy that he died, because I didn’t really like Satiou as a character. My only thoughts regarding how Satiou died, is that I think it was fitting that he died by his own handy work. As Satiou died in this episode, I kinda felt sorry for Ayaka, because there was no justice for her, in that mostly likely that Satiou would most likely convicted by the Internal Affairs Department for his crimes, if Bindt didn’t kill Satiou in this episode
After Bindt has killed Satiou, Bindt tries his best to escape from the GPO POD’s (armed with AR systems), but Bindt mangers to get hit by them, due to him achieving his goal killing Satiou. While Bindt gets does get hit by several GPO AR systems beams, Kurau is indirectly hit by one of the AR system beams, as she tries to save Bindt from the GPO. After Bindt has fallen to the ground, Bindt decides to allow rynax’s to pour out of his body, to make the situation even worse.
As Kurau’s father is reduced to being a background character in this episode (along side Dag) I thought that he gets significant character development in this episode, as he realises all the hardships that he hard put Kurau through, and weather his work on rynax energy has “helped” anyone.
I thought that this episode ended on an interesting note, with Kurau taking a huge amount of rynax’s that poured out of Bindt into herself, with Christmas chasing after Kurau.
Overall, I thought that this episode of Kurau was really good, as the action scenes where tense and well animated, and most important importantly this episode was able to inject a lot of character development into this episode.

Anime & Death Note 23 Feb 2007 08:32 pm
Death Note - Episode Nineteen
As the last episode of Death Note focused on Azawa, this episode yet again focuses on another member of team L, as this episode is foucused on Matsuda. This episode is focused on Matsuda, as he wants to prove to his team members that he is not the comic relief team member that he feels that he is currently, as he wants to prove that he to can be a productive member of team L, to help L solve what is the connection between the Yotsuba Company, and Kira.
As this episode is yet another episode (like the previous episode) that gives us a bit more insight into another team member of team L, I can see why Matsuda has been given development at this point in time. As Matsuda is supposedly the comic relief character in Death Note, what I like about Matsuda’s character is that no matter how insignificant his contributions to team L might have been so far, I like his determination, and his attitude of wanting to do more, to crack this case. Even though I feel that L is a bit tough on Matsuda, I bet that L likes Matsuda, because he is easy to get along with, despite him being a young police officer.
I thought that this episode of Death Note was a bit better than the previous episode (because I have a soft spot for Matsuda), and I thought that twists in this episodes were unexpected and tense.
I thought that scenes involving Misa in this episode were cute, though I particularly enjoyed the scene where Misa handles two mobile phones (one to talk to Light, and the other to talk Matsuda). As L in full of sugar and intelligence, I liked the scene where he offered some cake to Light, because he thought that he looked depressed. I thought that the funniest scene in this episode, in when all of the Yotsuba board (there’s eight of them), were they were love heart slippers to the special that Misa provides, to entertain the Yotsuba board members.
As this episode was centred around Matsuda getting caught in the act of listening to the Yotsuba’s group’s weekly Friday night ‘Who to kill meeting’, I thought that Matsuda did pretty well to cover himself, from the Yotsuba board finding out that he is a police officer investigating them. I thought that the director of this episode, used the cinematic technique of hiding what L’s plan was to get Matsuada safely away from the Yotsuba group, was a good, as it makes the viewer take interest of what L’s plan is to get Matsuda away from the Yotsuba group.
I thought that this episode ended on a good note, with one of the members of the Yotsuba board members being killed off. I think that Death Note will be more interesting once we learn who from the Yotsuba group is Kira, as I believe that Death Note is an a bit of a flat spot currently.

Anime & Gun Sword 22 Feb 2007 12:36 am
Gun Sword - Episode Nineteen
As the previous episodes of Gun Sword had Van killing two members of the original seven (Wo and Gadved), this episode continues with this theme, as another two members of the original seven die by Ray’s hands in this episode.
As the previous episode had some tension between Michael, Melissa and Carossa, this episode shows that Melissa has a shy, calm personality, while Carossa has a brash and competitive personality. I thought that the opening scene of Melissa and Carossa summoning their respective amour’s as soon as the episode started, I thought that this was a good scene that immediately gets the attention of the viewer, as one is anticipating the battle that Melissa and Carossa that they about to get into.
As Van and company and making their way down the long underground sea tunnel, this episode gives us an insight into why Priscilla has teamed up with Van. The reason of why Pricilla has teamed up with Van, is because Pricilla likes Van. Some examples of Pricilla trying to make some moves on Van in this episode include, Pricilla wanting to hold Van’s hand while getting something to eat, and that Pricilla mentions to Van in this episode, that if Van looks out of the window, that it looks like that her and Van are in a picture together.
As the hover base has made its way to the Freight Depot section of the tunnel, Van and company come under attack by two S Drive Dragon’s that are similar to the one’s featured in episode eight. As there are two S-Drive Dragons that are getting in the way of team Van from going through the underground sea tunnel, the Eldaro Four and Pricillia(in Brownie), decided to take care to the two S-Drive Dragons.
A small thing that I noticed about the El Dorado Four in this episode, is that it seems that Bucci (the mad scientist from episode three) and that the El Dorado group are now on good terms, as El Dorado is now powered by an engine by Bucci.
After the hover base has made its way to the HVAC Facility section of the underground sea tunnel, Van summons his armor Dann. Before Van summons Dann in this episode Ray and his armor Vulcun appear, as he mistakes Sin of Saturday and Sen of Sunday for the claw man.
I thought that the armor designs of Sen of Sunday and Sin of Saturday were interesting, as they look they are coated in pipes to me. I also liked that fact that Sen of Sunday and Sin of Saturday can combine and uncombine with one another. As Sen of Sunday and Sin of Saturday can combine and uncombine with each other, I thought that this element made their respective amour’s a little more interesting than the rest of the original seven member’s armors, that have featured so far.
As this episode plays out, I liked how Joshua has already customized the hover base to enable him to talk to his teams in their armors, by having a reference of a individual or group, assigned to a specific button number. Joshua’s customization that he has done, to help him talk to the various armor pilots on his side, are as follows:
1 - Van the Nice Guy
2 - Eldora Folks
3 - Ms. Pricilla
4 - Ms Carmen (aka Ms Cural)
I thought that the action scene of Ray and Van vs., Melissa and Carossa and the El Dorado group and Pricilla vs. the two S-Drive Dragons, played out in exciting fashion. With all the action in this episode, one could say that the purpose of this episode is to show the team work between of all the members of team Van, that are destined to meet together, and play a role in stopping the claw man from reaching his goal.
As this episode was a bit action heavy, I thought that the last several minutes of this episode, did a fairly good job of displaying the bond that Melissa and Carossa share. As Ray ends up killing Melissa and Carossa with his high powered rifle in this episode, I liked how this episode showed just how cold Ray is, compared to Van.
Overall, I thought that this episode of Gun Sword was particular good, despite getting some late character development from Melissa and Carossa in this episode.

Anime & Glass Fleet 22 Feb 2007 12:35 am
Glass Fleet - Episode One
First off I would like to say, I’m reviewing this series because I haven’t come across an anime blog that has reviewed this series from start to finish, and also because I am interested in this show because studio Gonzo and Satellite are teaming together on an anime project.
As I missed out on watching Solty Rei, which is a combined Gonzo and AIC work, I am interested in this show because I want to see what these two anime production companies can come up with, as I have enjoyed some of studio Gonzo’s and Satelight’s works in the past.
The basic plot of this show is that the galaxy is now ruled by Vetti, and that Michel Volban is the leader of People’s Army, that is opposing Vetti’s rule. Instead of this shows plot being a simple The People’s Army vs. Vetti’s Army plot, a third party is injected to this plot element, as Creo also has some claim to be the ruler of the Galaxy.
My thoughts regarding this episode, is that I liked how the episode started off, with an older Michel Volban (then in the series) remembering his adventures in the past. I thought that the CG of the sliver liquid that turns into the Royal Family coat of arms was a little well done scene. I liked how the silver liquid coat of arms then suddenly shatters like glass, as I felt it gave a good impression of what the glass in the show’s title may mean.
As CG has been used to animate the battleships that are used in this show, my initial reaction upon seeing this is that I don’t particular like seeing 3DCG objects, as I much prefer seeing 2D animation used, to animate the battleships in Glass Fleet. I can understand that 3DCG may have been used in this show to save same money, but I still think that there’s more detail in 2D hand-drawn animation, that if it was in 3DCG.
I thought that the character designs of the show are interesting, as that most character designs aren’t your typically standard character designs. As this show is set in space, with an acrostic feel to the setting, I liked how the two elements mesh together so far.
As this is the first episode of the show, we get lots of character introductions in this episode, and I thought that the battleship battle that occurred early on in this episode showed that Vettai is a ruthless character. As early on in this episode showed two armies fighting one another, I liked the viewer got a bit of understanding what some of the rules and customs of this particular world are. Upon seeing Silua (dressed as a maid) and take out some people while escaping to Michel’s ship, I got the impression that this show is best viewed with a not so serious attitude.
While this episode played out, I noticed that there was a lack of realism, due to that everybody can breathe in the vacuum of space. As I can understand that some people may be put off by this little fact, I guess that this may be intentional, as it seems that this show may just be one of those shows, where you are just meant to watch and enjoy it, as opposed analyzing every little details that occurs on the screen.
As I believe that music is an important element of a show, to enhance what is playing on the scene, I thought that the music that played in this first episode of Glass Fleet was average. I didn’t think that any music that I heard in this episode added any extra emotion to any scenes in this episode, nor did I feel that the music felt out of place at any time. I did think that music piece that was playing when the show displayed its sponsors, was a good piece of music. I liked the piece of music when the show displays its sponsors, as I liked the sound of the horn, and tune of this musical piece. If all of the music of this show had been composed like this piece that was playing where the sponsors of the show are advertised, I probably would give a more favourable opinion of the music.
Overall, I thought that this episode was an average opening episode, as there was nothing special about it, nor that there was anything particular bad this episode. I thought that the highlight of this episode was the last scene, where Creo introduces himself to the viewer, along with his Glass Ship. I thought that the scene where the camera passes through the glass ship, to Creo sitting on his ship, was a particular well constructed scene.

Anime & Le Chevalier D`Eon 20 Feb 2007 07:06 am
Le Chevalier D’Eon: Episode Fourteen
As the previous episode of Le Chevalier D’Eon was a setup episode, this episode builds upon the previous episode, as the four musketeers’ manage to get their hand on Robert Woods’s documents that he is holding, in this episode.
Despite myself enjoying the how the dinner scene played out, I also enjoyed the events that were taken place in the palace in this episode, as Madame de Pompadour and Queen Marie again have another one on their talks with one another.
I really enjoyed seeing Madame de Pompadour sucking up to Queen Marie when she is summoned to talk to her, as Madame de Pompadour says that talking to the queen directly is more important then her studies. Queen Marie wants to talk to Madame de Pompadour to see in that she can speak with the home secretary, so that Anna can tutor Auguste again, as otherwise his highness Auguste will cry and get upset. After the scene is over, we learn that Madame de Pompadour had a child in the past, but no other details about Madame de Pompadour’s past are revealed beside this. After Madame De Pompadour she says to Comte de Saint-Germain that if his Highness Auguste can’t realise his duty, then she will do it, even if history will judge her as a woman that just wanted power.
My thought’s regarding Madame De Pompadour is that I find her an interesting villain, as I like the way that she if willing to bid her time, and scheme, knowing full well that nobody can really stop her, due to her position that she carries. I am thinking that the Belle might be Madame De Pompadour’s child, which died in some mysterious circumstances. If my guess about this is true, then it would make the show even more interesting then it is currently is.
As Le Chevalier D’Eon has revealed details about the four musketeers as the series has progressed, we get some interesting about Terrigory in this episode, when he greets Mary and Robert Wood. After Terrigory has greeted Mary and Robert Wood, we learn from Robert Wood that Terrigory was the best swordsman of Robert Wood’s age/generation. As Terrigory has trained Lia and D’Eon in swordsmanship, I know understand why Lia was so capable of holding her own against all the opponents that Lia/D’Eon have faced in this series so far.
As we learned in this episode that Terrogery was the best swordsman of the age/generation, I liked how this episode gave us some details about Lia, as we learn from Durand, that Lia was able to enchant anyone, and not be able to act this out.
I thought that the main attraction of this episode of the dinner scene involving Robert Wood, her majesty Mary and the four Musketeers played out in good fashion. As the dinner scene played out I could help but think that her majesty Mary ‘likes’ Lia, as she is constantly staring at Lia in this episode.
As Le Chevalier D’Eon is IMO a show that is more seriously themed, I liked how the musketeer group used Robert’s Wood weakness of watching duels and serving him wine from Tonnerre, to make him forget that Durand and Robin have transcribed the documents that he has been taking care off.
I thought that suspense scene of where that Robin and Durand are busy transcribing the documents that Robert Wood was carrying, was very good, as this episode showed how vulnerable the four musketeer group are against the poet’s mystic powers. I thought that Durand tried his best to help Robin to try and overcome the poets’ power, by slashing at the H:O infected document with his sword, and then trying to destroy it, with some gun powder.
Despite Durand’s best efforts to help Robin subdue the H:O infected document, Durand comes to the conclusion that he will have to cut off Robin’s hand, to stop Robin from choking himself to death. As Durand is about to cut off Robin’s hand, Lia recites the Psalm, and stops the incantation. After Lia has recited her incantation, and put a line through the H:O symbol on the dinner table (from some wine that she spilled), and Robin’s incantation is stoped. After Robin is set free from the H:O incantation, Durand stops himself from cutting off Robin’s left hand, at the very last second.
I thought that the last scene of this episode was interesting, as upon closely examining the scene, I interpreted that Maximilien Robespierre was giving the finger to the Duke of Cagliostro and Lorenze, as he walked in front of them.
Overall, I though that this episode of Le Chevalier D’Eon was a good episode. Despite that I found myself a bit perplexed of why Sir Dashwood and his followers were reciting the Paslm (alongside Maximilien Robespierre) in this episode, it seems that Maximilien Robespierre will be further involved in the next couple of episodes, as he tries to open the Verse of the Royal Family.

Anime & Code Geass:Hangyaku no Lelouch 20 Feb 2007 07:06 am
Code Geass:Hangyaku no Lelouch - Episode Seventeen
As this episode of Code Geass is entitled Knight, the reason of why this episode is called this is because Princess Euphemia chooses Suzuka to be her knight. Despite me pretty much knowing that Princess Euphemia would end up choosing Suzuka due to her interactions with Suzuka in the series so far, and from the opening theme animation.
Despite this episode’s main purpose is to show Euphemia choosing her knight, and this episode being centred around Colonel Toudou’s rescue from the Britannia Army, I was happy to see that some subplot elements of this show got a bit of a push forward in this episode.
The subplots that get a bit of screen time in this episode is the Shirley’s x Lelouch relationship, and that the Ougi and Villetta relationship. As Villetta has been reduced to a housewife since episode fifteen, Ougi better enjoy all his well cooked meals, as I can smell that around the corner that it’s only a matter of time before Villetta starts recovering her memory. I thought that the scene were Shirley finds the piece of paper that her threw away after she found out that Lulu (Lelouch) is Zero should be interesting, as I wonder what the contents on the piece of paper were, and weather if Shirley will try to start a relationship with Lelouch again, after reading the piece of paper.
Despite this episode pushing forward some subplot elements in this episode, I’m happy that this episode finally showed Rakshata (the creator of Crimson Lotus MK II), as it will be interesting to see in future episode her relationship with Lloyd and Cecile.
My thought s regarding the Japanese Liberation Front new Knightmare unit that they receive from their supporters in Kyoto is that I think that they all look very cool (including the realistic designed pilot suits). I thought that Toudou’s new Knightmare unit is the best looking Knightmare unit that the mecha designer has designed for this series so far, as I felt that this Knightmare was inspired by one of Gasarkai’s mecha.
I thought that the CG that was implemented in the scene where Lelouch is figuring out Lancelot’s movement patterns, in that I thought that it was the similar CG that Sunrise has used in Gasaraki and Gundam Seed. As Lelouch/Zero has currently a standard Knightmare unit, I hoping that Zero gets a new/improved Knightmare unit soon, as if Zero/Lelouch does get a new Knightmare unit, I bet that it’s going to be visually cool.
I thought that the best scene of this episode was the last scene in this episode, where Lelouch is laughing about all the different ways he can manipulate Suzuka to his advantage. I thought that the scene of were Lelouch is laughing in his Knightmare unit, was definitely one of the better evil laughing scenes that I have seen for some time.
Overall, I thought that this episode was pretty good, as it was about time that Lelouch discovered that Suzuka was the pilot of Lancelot. With Lelouch/Zero discovering that Suzuka is the pilot of Lancelot, I hope that the story writers go along the line of Zero being able to take Suzuka under his wing, and be his partner in crime, of taking down Britannia, and creating a new era, where Zero is the ruler.

Anime & Death Note 17 Feb 2007 09:12 pm
Death Note - Episode Eighteen
As the previous episode of Death Note had L informing the rest of the investigation team of the new building that they will live out of from now on, this episode is about team L getting used to their new surrounding, and investigating the Yotsuba’s company.
As this episode of Death combined chapter 38-40 of the manga into this episode, I felt that this episode was a heavily watered down version of the source material. Despite myself liking the fight that L and Light get into in Misa’s room, I believe that 25 minutes isn’t enough time to give Death Note a truly faithfully adaptation, despite myself believing that the series is in a class above the majority of shows that are currently airing now on Japanese TV, and that have been produced so far.
What I enjoyed about this episode is all the facial expressions that L gives, when he is depressed, as I found them to be oddly cute and interesting. I liked how L was more interested if Misa wanted to eat her cake, then caring that he was on a date with Misa and Light.
I thought that the fight between L and Light that occurs in Misa’s room due to L baiting Light to try not so hard to capture Kira. I thought that the fight between L and Light had good camera angles, and I thought that the animation from MadHouse, did a good job of animating the fight between L and Light. As L and Light fought one another in this episode, I thought it was interesting to see L only use only his feet to kick Light with his left foot, while Light used only his right hand to punch L.
After the fight between L and Light is over, I liked how L was sitting backwards on the rolling chair, as he looked really cute in that pose. While L is sitting backwards on his rolling chair, Light informs L of his finding that he has found a connection with Kira and the Yotsuba Company. The connection between the Yotsuba company and Kira is that their have been thirteen cases of where people have died, which has made the company stock’s of Yotsuba rise. After Light has shown his findings to L, L regains some of his lost motivation, to see in there’s more to this lead.
After doing some more investigation work on the Yotsuba company, team L gains two members in this episode which are Weddie (a professional burglar), and Aber (a con artist). Despite team L needing Amber and Weddie to help get closer to the Yotsuba group, Azawa leaves the investigation team in this episode. Azawa leaves team L in this episode (and goes back to his job as a police officer), because Mogi (Assistant Director of Police) has told Chief Yagami that they will no longer chase Kira, otherwise Kira will start killing politicians. Chief Yagami and Mutssuda decided to resign from the police force to chase after Kira, but Azawa decides to return to the police force due to having a family.
I liked how this episode gave Azawa some emotional character growth, but I think that the scene of where that Azawa (after he left team L), is sitting alone on the park bench before it cuts to him meeting his family, should have been left in this episode, as it would have gave the viewer a more clearer opinion of just how a difficult decision that he made, to leave team L.
Overall I thought that this episode of Death Note was pretty average, as cramming three chapters worth of source material doesn’t really give justice to the source material of these chapters. I liked the fight that occurs between L and Light in this episode, but I felt that the emotional development of Azawa that occurs in this episode, should have been given more screen time in these episode. I feel that more screen of this episode should have been given to Azawa, as I felt more emotions reading chapter 40 of Death Note, then how this episode translated this episode.

Anime & Kurau:Phantom Memory 15 Feb 2007 10:26 pm
Kurau Phantom Memory : Episode Twenty Two
As the previous episode of Kurau: Phantom Memory ended with Kurau and company about to be attacked my Chief’s Satiou’s rynax extermination squad, this episode of Kurau: Phantom Memory is an episode similar to episode sixteen, but this episode also contains some nice surprises also.
This episode starts off, with the rynax extermination squad charging towards Kurau and company. As the rynax extermination squad is coming towards Kurau, Christmas, Dag and an unconscious Reigel, Dag tries starting his car, but the car won’t get off the ground, due to a GPO pod using an anti-blue unit, to stop the car from moving. After Kurau realises the trouble that Dag is now in, Kurau and Christmas leave the car, so that Dag and Bindt won’t get too involved against the rynax extermination squad.
As the attention of the rynax extermination squad is turned to Kurau and Christmas temporarily, Dag use this small window of opportunity, to grab his gun and shoot the GPO POD that is stopping his car from flying. After Dag has managed to get his car started, the rynax extermination squad tries to bring down Dag’s car, while also attacking Kurau and Christmas. As all the attention of the rynax extermination squad is turned to the people surrounding Dag’s car, Ayaka uses this opportunity to get an AR system from her car, and take out some of the rynax extermination squad.
After Dag and Ayaka have made a small get away, Kurau comes up with a plan, to try and get Dag and Ayaka away from the rynax extermination squad, by being bait to draw them away from Ayaka and Dag’s cars. I thought that the scene of where Kurau goes one on one with the rynax extermination squad was a good scene, as the rynax extermination squad fight like a well oiled machine, against Kurau.
Despite Kurau’s noble intention of trying to withstand being outnumbered, the numbers of the rynax extermination squad are too many for Kurau to handle, as one member of the rynax extermination squad mangers to incapacitate Ayaka’s car, thus knocking Ayaka unconscious in the fall. After Kurau notices that Ayaka’s car has been damaged, Kurau drags Ayaka out of her car, and then Christmas is assigned to look after her, by Kurau.
With Ayaka unconscious, Kurau again draws the attention of most of the rynax extermination squad members, as Kurau plays fellow the leader with them. As most of the rynax extermination members are either trying to catch up to Kurau, or are checking to see if Ayaka is in her damaged vehicle, Christmas uses this time to hide herself and Ayaka. After Christmas has hide herself and Ayaka from the rynax extermination squad, Christmas managers to take Ayaka to Dag’s car. After Ayaka is in Dag’s car, Bindt wakes up, and immediately searches for his twin brother, Reigel.
As the battle with the rynax extermination squad has worn down Kurau a bit, Kurau is finding it difficult to shake the GPO POD’s that are chasing after her. As luck would have it, Reigel comes to Kurau’s rescue, and disposes of the two GPO POD’s that have been chasing Kurau. After Regiel has taken care of the GPO POD’s, Reigel has a quick conversation with Kurua, before searching for his twin brother, Bindt.
At this point in time, Kurau is exhausted due to all of the fighting that she has done, and collapses due to using too much of her power. After a brief period of time has passed by, Kurau is feeling better due to Christmas healing her. After Kurau is all healed, the two go and look for Bindt and Reigel. While Kurau is being healed by Christmas, Bindt and Reigel meet each other, and they talk about why they are now being disposed of by Satiou.
After Reigel tells Bindt that they are failures in Satiou’s eyes, due to possessing the willingness of the rynax instead of humans. As the two talk, the pair can see in the distance, the rynax extermination squad and some GPO POD’s bearing upon them, in intimidating fashion. After the Bindt and Reigel sort of finish their talk, I felt that what follows on from here had a similar feel to what occurred in episode sixteen.
After Bindt and Reigel sort of finish their talk, a GPO POD shots some shield points in the ground, and thus causing the rynax twins to be caught in the GPO trap. Instead of just letting the rynax twins to try and wear themselves out, by letting the twins to try and escape from the trap, all GPO POD’s fire their AR system at the rynax twins. As Reigel sees that AR systems beams coming from the GPO POD’s, Reigel uses his body to shield Bindt from the shots. After Reigel has collapsed to the ground, he tells Bindt that rynax are going to pour out of him, and this happens after he dies.
I thought that the scene of where Bindt is remembering his brother, combined with the background music that was playing in this scene, was a fitting yet sad moment, as Bindt regains his human will. I thought that the long scream that Bindt mutters after Reigel has died, really conveyed Bindt’s emotions at this point in time.
After Reigel has died, Kurau and Christmas take care of rynax’s that have poured out of Reigel. After Kurau, and Christmas have taken care of the rynax that have poured out of Reigel, Bindt tries to go after Satiou, but fails. Bindt fails to get is revenge of Satiou, due to the affects of Bindt becoming pair less.
I thought that the way that this episode ended was probably one of my favorite endings, as Bindt is seen on a cargo ship headed toward the moon (to kill Satiou), and that the effects of Bindt being pair less, can be seen starting to appear on Bindt’s body. As Satiou has now made his way to his office on the moon, his peace is disturbed as a living Inspector Wong calmly enters his office.
I thought that this episode of Kurau would have to be at least on par with my rating that I gave episode sixteen, due to the fact that this episode delivered excellent emotional impact to minor character. I believe that this episode featured probably one of the better ending twists of the series, as there wasn’t even a little hint that Inspector Wong would return.
I thought that this episode contained some good camera angles, especially when Kurau is fighting the rynax extermination squad in this episode. As I am a twin myself, I can understand the feelings that Bindt went through when Reigel died. I hope that Bindt does indeed kill Satiou, because Satiou IMO is just another standard old, evil power driven individual, and that has no personality.
Anyway I really am looking forward to the next episode; as I believe bring back Inspector Wong back as a character, will make the next episode more interesting, then if he was killed off. With any luck, I hope next episode will deliver either Bindt or Ayaka getting their revenge on Satiou, as I believe his time is up.

Gun Sword - Episode Eighteen
As very little has happened on the claw man’s side in the previous episode, this episode mainly deals with a small group of the claw man’s workers, mutinying against him.
As the previous episode of Gun Sword contained a decent amount of fan service, I thought that this episode contained a little of fan service, due to seeing Michael in his black shin tight under-uniform clothes, and also getting a shower scene involving Michael. Besides Michael Garret providing some mild fan service in this episode, I also thought that the scene where Melissa drops the cover to her locator and falls over was another mild fan service scene.
I thought that this episode was interesting, on the fact that Michael Garret’s seems to treat Saudade on Sunday maintenance team with respect, as one of maintenance crew thanks Michael for allowing him to shake a member of the original seven’s hand. After Michael Garret has finished doing the tests to allow him to pilot Saudade of Sunday, some of Him Garret’s maintenance crew take him hostage, because he overheard them talking to kill comrade (the claw man).
What I found interesting about this episode, is when the claw man tries to talk Mattaka into letting Michael go free. When the claw man seems to have talked his way to getting them to release Michael, a member of the mutiny team tries to shoot the claw man, but fails to do so. As the failed mutiny member has failed to kill the claw man, the claw man says he forgives this person, and when the claw accidentally kills this person due to getting in an airtight hug, thus allowing the claw man to kill this mutiny member, by accidentally clawing the person with his right claw. After the claw has accidentally killing this mutiny individual, the claw man starts crying. After the claw man has gotten to his senses he says that this sacrifice won’t be in vain as he will continue with his goal to bring peace to everybody by destroying every thing, and achieving a peaceful peace, with no humans.
After the claw man has killed one of the mutiny members, the remaining mutiny members escape in an S-Drive dragon similar to the one seen in episode eight. As the remaining mutiny members are making their escape, they are soon persuaded by Michael in Saudade of Sunday.
I thought that the scene where Saudade of Sunday sprouts its insect like wings, was a great eye catching scene, as we get to see Saudade of Sunday in all its glory. After seeing Saudade of Sunday in full flight, I think that Saudade of Sunday looks a little like Char’s Shiki from Zeta Gundam, as both mecha as mainly coated in yellow.
I also thought that the use of still to show Saudade of Sunday cutting up the S-Drive Dragon was a good technique used to show Saudade of Sunday being an armour that is going to put up a decent fight against Dann.
The episode ends with Van and company being able to enter the hidden under passageway that Catherine Natata told them about earlier on in this episode. Van and company are able to enter the under passageway way due to Carmen 99 retrieving the reward that she stole from the twins in episode five, and placing these two odorants in their respective places, so they can enter this secret passageway.
Overall I thought that this episode of Gun Sword was okay, and it looks like things will get more interesting, as Van and company get closer to the claw man.
