The Skull Man - Episode Thirteen (Final)

This episode of The Skull Man goes into more detail of the cast of The Skull Man while fighting the evil big boss in the Byakureikai headquarters. Overall, I thought the plot of The Skull Man was interesting, and the anime doesn’t give the viewer the answers to the plot of this series, but the viewer has to do some research into source material to get the answers to the questions that this series raises which is good and bad depending upon how an individual likes their anime. I thought that the setting of this series was interesting, as it’s set in the mid 1900’s (estimate) and note set in the future or in the current 21st century. The music I thought from the series was particular good, in that the background music and opening and closing themes sounded quite good, though is not a series that has an outstanding soundtrack and /or background music. The animation I thought was pretty good and what would l expect from Studio Bones. I thought that the character designs and the characters personalities in the series were interesting and fresh.

Overall, I thought that this series was fairly solid, though the way how the series ended was interesting, and would recommend it to anime fans looking for a series that is different from the stereotypical high school anime shows. I thought the best thing about this series that there was no annoying teenagers in this series, and the cast in this series mainly were adults.

The Skull Man - Episode Twelve

The second last episode of the Skull Man starts off with Ootomo city celebrating Christmas Eve, with the military turning on the police. I thought that the twist from last episode of Hayato now being the Skull Man instead of Yoshio was interesting, and Yoshio dying in this episode.

I thought it was interesting to watch some characters reactions in this episode when Haniwa got screwed by the President of the Gagou Poject, as Haniwa was the fall person in this situation. Despite the darkness that occurs in this episode, I thought it was interesting that this episode featured a short flashback of Yoshio before he was a priest, and how he founded the orphanage/church that he worked at.

I thought the truth about the monsters and the Byakureikai organization in this series was an interesting twist to the story, though thought it was cool of Shinjou to take care of Kiriko and the orphans from the church during the madness in this episode. I thought the way the episode ended with the Skull Man entering the headquarters of the Byakureikai organization was an evil cliffhanger to the conclusion of the Skull Man series.

Overall, I thought that this episode was pretty as it provide more detail into the characters of the cast of the Skull Man, while adding background information to the Skull Man’s past, and goal in this series.

The Skull Man - Episode Eleven

Finally after eleven episodes of The Skull Man the viewer find out who The Skull Man really is. I personally thought that the way that Kanzaki Yoshio pulled off his mask of The Skull Man was interesting, as there was no major build up about it occurring, it just simply happened.

While the Skull Man masks falls off Kanzaki Yoshio in this episode, it’s not the only mask to fall off in this episode, as Kagura Tatsuyuki’s mask and Byakureikai religion mask falls of while explaining about the research occurring in the town of Kagura Village. I thought that speech in this episode that deals with when an adult people wants a dream, their only choice is to become a politician or religious leader was interesting, as this what occurred in this series, to get that dream.

I thought it was interesting that the answers about the Skull Man aren’t handed over to the viewer on a plate, but require the viewer to solve the mystery themselves with hints in this episode.

Overall, I thought that this episode of The Skull Man different in how I expected it might play out, which is good and bad, but overall, as the episode was more interesting that I thought that it might be, as least it wasn’t boring and predictable as I previously thought.

The Skull Man - Episode Ten

This episode of the Skull Man starts of on an interesting note with the Skull Man return a knocked out Kiriko to Hayato. I thought it was interesting to see some people in this episode ride the Ghost train that featured in a previous episode of the Skull Man. I thought that the Brann Gear personal that accompanies the people on the train was interesting, as they military people were named as either 01, 02, 03, 04 etc.

I thought it was interesting in this episode that Shinjou and Kyoichiro have any interesting conversation about various topics. I thought that this episode was interesting in that I thought that action scene involving the Skull and his loyal monsters fighting the new powered up suits from the Gagou Project was interesting, as I thought the dance between the various people were interesting and exciting.

As the past few episodes has showed more scenes involving the Skull Man in action, my observation of The Skull Man is that he is able to strike fear into people right from the start, though it seems to be decreasing, as The Skull Man isn’t as menacing and his aura of being invincible is sort of decreased to a mortality level IMO (in my opinion), in this episode.

Overall, I thought that this episode was pretty good, though am still waiting for the episode were the viewer gets some background information about who is the Skull Man, and his origins about being the Skull Man.

The Skull Man - Episode Nine

This episode of the Skull Man starts of with the Skull Man and company informing Nami about being rewarded with death, though Shinjou rescues Nami from the Skull Man and monsters. I thought it was interesting to see Shinjou gloat about saving Nami’s life, and that Hayato informing Shinjou that he hasn’t yet gone out on a date with Nami. I thought this episode was interesting as the viewer got some insight into how a person slowly transformers into a monster.

As the political elements of the Skull Man have taken a back seat for the majority of the series, I thought that it was interesting that this episode dealt with this aspect of the plot, though I won’t mind more details about the Gagou Poject and GRO series that are talked about in this episode.

I thought that the scene of in confession, and Kiriko getting upset about herself liking Hayato, was interesting, as I find this couple very interesting. I thought that the action scene that involved the Skull Man was interesting, as the Skull Man usually doesn’t get challenged very often by a Monster Nami.

Overall, I thought that this episode was pretty good, and I’m hoping that the series will end on a good note.

The Skull Man - Episode Eight

This episode of the Skull Man starts off with the Skull Man killing another individual in this series, as the victim this time is another person from the Byakureikai organization. As Shinjou as taken a liking to Nami in the previous episode of the Skull Man, this episode has Shinjou asking Nami on a date, with Nami accepting. As Ootomo Saint Maria Church has been an interesting place where Kiriko hangs out with the orphans of the church, I thought it was interesting that Kyoichiro finally showed up at Saint Maria Church, as Kyoichiro finally has an interesting conversation with Shinjou.

As details about the Skull Man has been a real interesting element of this series, I thought that this episode gave another teaser about what’s occurring in the background of this series, as the Skull Man talks about the Gagou Project.

Overall, I thought that this episode was an average episode of the Skull Man, as this episode enhanced the relationships of the characters, while also dropping some hints about the plot of this series.

The Skull Man - Episode Seven

This episode of the Skull Man with Hayato and Kiriko being caught by the Byakureiki group, and then dumping their knocked out bodies at the garbage dump. I thought it was interesting that this episode confirmed that Kuroshio Mayu is a member/part of the Byakureiki group, with her mother being the leader. As this episode revealed that Kiriko’s elder brother (Jin) was apart of the Byakureiki group, I thought the reunion between Kiriko and her elder brother (Jin) was an interesting scene, as Jin wasn’t particular concerned about Kiriko.

As the previous episode of the Skeleton Man had the show off how efficient he was in killing people, while on his motor cycle, I thought that the scene where the Skeleton Man kills the Parliament Member Oosato Sanzou was interesting, as the viewer got a peek at what the Skeleton Man was thinking about, before he killed Oosato Sanzou.

As the Skull Man series was an interesting cast, I thought that it was interesting that this episode introduced another character in this episode, as this episode introduced Nami. Nami is the niece of the store owner that Hayato eats at. While Hayato eats at this dinner in this episode, Shinjou is interested in Nami, and Hayato reluctantly introduces Nami to Shinjou, in return for covering for him.

As this episode goes on, I thought it was interesting that the Skeleton Man meet the real Skull Man in this episode, and that this episode revealed that Kiriko’s elder brother (Jin), was the Skeleton Man. I thought that this episode ended interestingly, with Mr. Buguddo making yet another new character introduction in this episode, while also explaining the possible background of the Skull Man.

Overall, I thought that this episode was interesting due to the new characters in this episode, while also developing the relationship between Kiriko and Jin.

The Skull Man - Episode Six

This episode of the Skull Man starts off with Kiriko staking out Byakureiki, while Hayato is listening to the tape that he obtained in the previous episode of The Skull Man. I thought that the scene where Kuroshio and other high ranking officials of Ootormo City was interesting, as Kumashiro Masaki was listening in on the meeting an conversation, while having a look at the book entitled Thus Spoke Zarathustra.

I thought that the scene where the Skull Man is dressing from his civilian identity to the Skeleton Man was interesting, as it’s the first time in the series that the viewer has seen the Skeleton Man change. While Hayato and Kiriko are on the road, I thought it was interesting seeing a slight change in Kiriko’s character, before Hayato informs Kiriko informs Kiriko that before Usami died, he said that Kagura Tatsuo is still alive, before almost getting run off the road.

I thought that the scene where the Skull Man kills the mayor (Kusaka) and his assistant and shots Hayato in the arm was really atmospheric, and how shows simple and effective the Skull Man is when killing anybody. After Hayato survives his run in with the Skull Man, I thought the episode got interesting, as the police officer that is meant to look after Hayato, is told to leave him alone after he has gone to the hospital.

After the political elements are dealt with after the Mayor death, the episode focus on Byakureiki, with Hayato and Kiriko going undercover in Byakureiki, got get some more information about this organization. This episode reveals that person in charge of Byakureiki is Sara, who was once Tatsuyuki’s wife. However Sara is now married to Kuroshio Gouzou.

Overall, I thought that this episode of the Skull Man has a little bit of everything to make this episode very intriguing and interesting. Hopefully it won’t be to long before more details about the Skull and Skeleton Man are revealed.

The Skull Man - Episode Five

As the previous episode of the Skull Man involved Tachiki being injured on the Phantom Monorail, this episode starts off with Kyoichiro getting a slap to the face from one of the nurses at Ootomo Hospital, for touching her backside, when telling a fictitious story, and making the nurse look at the ground.

After a slightly different start to the episodes then the previous episode of the Skull Man, Hayato meets up with Usami may was interesting in that Usami may looked really nice in his suit, and IMO(in me opinion) comes off to not as a mad scientist stereotypical character, but a scientist that is weird and interesting.

I thought it was interesting that Usami gave Hayato a movie ticket to see the movie The Fake Blind Spot on Sunday at 3:30pm, and Ootomo Theater. The Fake Blind Spot is a movie that is a conspiracy mystery, which is the rage at the moment. As Hayato’s relationship with Kiriko has been as interesting element to this series, I thought it was interesting that Kiriko would use the bath as a place to develop photographs, thus making Hayato and Kiriko to use the bath at the orphanage to ensure that they don’t smell. As Hayato and Kiroko walked back to Hayato’s place, I thought the screenwriting and dialog between the two was really good, as the two played off one another really well.

As this episode featured Kumashiro Masaki listening to a tape that was delivered to his house in this episode, I thought that the audio of the tape gave some nice hints in what is some of occurring in this episode. As Kyoichiro got slapped across the face early on in this episode of touching a nurses butt, Kyoichiro does the same thing again to the same nurse, but this time she doesn’t slap Kyoicjiro, but just looks angry at Kyoichiro and then blush’s and says pervert.

I thought that the scene where Usami meets Hayato in the cinema, was really moody and intriguing, as Usami talks to Hayato in cryptic talk. I thought that this sort scene was well animated, as one could see the cinema screen shadow flicking on the characters in the cinema, while this scene played out.

I was surprised that Usami Akira (an employee of Ootomo Pharmaceuticals’ Biochemistry Research Facility), was shoot dead by the Skeleton Man, in the under-construction Ootomo Tower. I also thought it was interesting that Hayato was able to find the tape entitled ‘The voice of God’ is a coin locker at the end of this episode.

Overall, I thought is was a shame that Usami died by the hands of the Skeleton Man in this episode, as Usami really was an intriguing and strange character that I certainly would of like to get more screen time in this series. I thought that this episode was more atmospheric then previous episode of the Skull Man, due to ‘Voice of God Tape’ and Usami playing a key role in this episode. As this series is set in the mid 1900’s (I think), I really have been impressed with the assortment of classical music that this series has been able to deliver, was also adding atmosphere to most scenes in this series.

As the series is entitled the Skull Man, and that there has been little involvement with the real Skull Man so far, I’m not really frustrated about the Skull Man making not many appearances in the series so far, as when the Skull Man and the Skeleton Man do make appearances in the episode, is really captures the viewers attention, then the Skull Man or Skeleton Man getting a lot of screen in the series, which would then make their appearances less atmospheric.

The Skull Man - Episode Four

This episode of the Skull Man starts off on an interesting note with Kiriko and Hayato going back to the orphanage/church, where Hayato talks to Kanzaki about Sayo. I thought the scene where Kiriko is playing sumo wrestling with the kids of the orphanage was funny, as this scene shows that Kiriko is still part kid, despite her traveling with Hayato. While the kids of the orphanage are fighting for Kiriko’s affections and attention, the orphanage kids discuss the topic of the Phantom Monorail, where the last stop is hell.

I thought that the next scene of where a person is being chased by the Skeleton Man and being killed was really well directed, as the music, and direction really captured the fear of the person running away from Skeleton Man, which was like Terminator like IMO (in my opinion). I thought the brief scene of news headlines passing across the screen with the newspaper rolls in the background working, really captured the atmosphere of the period that this anime is set in. When I saw the big Skull Message sign in this episode, I immediately thought that it’s a message from The Phantom, as the Phantom has a skull symbol.

As section Chief Suzuki died at the hands of the Skeleton Man in this episode, while riding the Phantom Monorail at midnight, I really found Chief Usami to be an interesting character, as it seems at first glance that his the stereotypical mad scientist character, but the way Suzuki interacted with Hayato indicates that his not a ‘dumb’ character, and even manages to give Hayato a screw you smile, when Hayato tried to suck information from him, when asking for a light to lit his cigarette.

I thought that Kiriko’s Byakureiki Report scene where Kiriko presents Hayato with her photo’s that she got of the people going into the Byakureiki building was interesting, as Kiriko seems to have the ability to make any scene interesting, was adding some more intrigue to the Byakureiki religious group. I thought that the scene where Hayato and Kyoichiro talked about the book that Chief Usami may have been reading was interesting, as it talked about words that mean Superhuman Ideal.

I thought that the scene where Hayato decides to take a trip on the Phantom Monorail was interesting, in that the scenes of where Hayato and Kyoichiro try to stop the Skeleton Man from killing was realistic, and the scene showed that this imposter of the real Skeleton Man is not undefeatable.

Overall, I thought that this episode was really solid, with more hints about where the plot may go, was also adding more depth to the relationship of the cast members of The Skull Man.
