Macross Frontier Cosplay references of upcoming movie
I managed to have a browse of this month’s December 2009 issue of Newtype Japan, and noticed some Macross Frontier spreads contained some images of the costumes that people may want to cosplay in the future or not of Ranka and Sheryl Nome. Below are images that are in this months Newtype.

Sailor Moon Super S Special
This special is divided into three parts with the first being a review/clip part in Usagi, Luna and Artemis explain/talk to Chibi-Usa about how Usagi become Salior Moon, and then defeated Queen Beryl and her generals. The second part has Michiru and Haruka fight an evil puppet. The third and final part has a new student appearing in Chibi-Usa’s class but that person is actually a vampire.
Overall, I thought that this special was fairly entertaining and from an animation point of view I thought that it was that standard of normal episode of Sailor Moon. From a musical point of view the soundtrack mainly that is used in this special is that used from the TV soundtrack of Sailor Moon. I still thought that this Sailor Moon special was still cute, funny and entertaining against anime that is currently produced today.

Kaleido Star : Legend of Phoenix
If you haven’t gussed, I’m a big Kaleido Star fan and I’m an even Layla fan, and even though ADV or no other anime distribution company has yet released this wonderful OVA on DVD or Blu-Ray yet this OVA answers all the questions that a viewer has about Layla, while also providing good character development to Layla and Sora and their relationship that they have with one another.
From an animation point of view the animation is that above a TV series, and below that of a movie, and that standard of an OVA series. The music of this OVA was fitting and some of it is recycled music from the TV series, but the new insert songs in this OVA simply added emotion to the characters of the OVA, while still maintaining the charm what makes one enjoy Kaleido Star. As this is a GONZO production I’m surprised how far studio GONZO has fallen in recent times, when studio GONZO was once looked at animation studio and viewed by the anime industry as a studio doing interesting works while being a pioneer of sorts of doing series with interesting story lines without to much fan-service in their series.
If you a fan of Kaleido Star/Stage or not, I would recommend you take the time to visit Kaleido Stage/Star as it’s like visiting old friends.

The Black Contractor PV
As I’ a fan of Darker Then Black, I thought that the promo of he Darker Then Black OVA entitled The Black Contractor looked rather gritty, and looks rather interesting in my opinion (IMO). Below are screencaps of The Black Contractor preview.

Sailor Moon Super S Special: Ami’s First Love
To be honest this is my second real dive into the world of Sailor Moon, and I was pleasantly happy with the outcome. Despite this bring back the nostalgia days of English dubbed Sailor Moon, this is a cute story story that doesn’t really expand the plot of Sailor Moon Super S season, but it’s Sailor Mercury that saves day instead of Usagi, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter, Sailor Venus, Chibi-Usa or any other Outer Senshi.
This short and sweet Sailor Moon Special tells the viewer about Ami’s world. I thought the animation was pretty good, on par with a theatrical movie. The music I thought that featured in this special was pretty and fitting to the scenes that occurred. I
In short Ami’s First love despite not having a terribly exciting story, it should be seen by all Sailor Moon fans (and Ami fans).

Cencoroll
Despite this not being an official movie, I thought that I would have a dip just to see what amarture anime wane be directors can come up, and I was pleasen’t surprised.
Cencoroll deals with Ceno and Amamiya Tesu that seem to be friends, though the viewer doesn’t know if it’s an alien or not. I thought that the way Cenco can transform into different objects it cool, and if I had a Cenco I would change it into an expensive car, and drive around in it.
Despite the viewer not getting much information about the fight between Cenco’s, the abaliity of Cenco’s to transform into pretty much any object, allows the fights to be interesting and intriguing. I thought thtat the character in this short movie/movie/Special is that they aren’t typically sterotypyes, and the characters are a bit werid and interesting. I thought that fight that occurs between the two Ceno’s was interesting and something one doesn’t stereotypically see.
From an animation point of view I thought that the movie was pretty solid, and despite the movie halfing a short run time, I thought that music that featured in the movie matched the scenes of the movie quite well. I thought that ending theme song was quite catchy, and had a nice rhythm to it.
Overall, despite this movie being rather short, I quite enjoyed this little movie due the unqiuness of Ceno.

Kaleido Star - It’s good! Gooood!
This episode of Kaleido Star - It’s good! Gooood! is a 3D adventure/episode that is a cross between Iron Chief and an episode of Kaleido Star. The jokes and music that occur throughout this OVA/Special are jokes that occur in the Kaleido Star series, so a viewer of this OVA/Special will have to be familiar with the Kaleido Star series.
Overall, I really enjoyed this OVA/Special since I’m a fan of the Kaleido Star and Iron Chief, and the missing of both of them is a gem of a OVA/Special.

Iron Man Promo
As I thought that the Iron Man movie was pretty good, the team up of Marvel and MadHouse to do a joint animation piece of Iron Man IMO could be seen or not as a promotion for the upcoming Iron Man 2 movie. Judgeing from the promo, I like the the character designs and is something I’ll keep on my radar. Pictures of the Iron Man anime can be seen below.

Wolverine Promo
As the character Wolverine is one of Marvel’s more famous characters, I thought that the team up of Marvel and MadHouse to do a joint animation piece would be interesting, but judgeing from the promo the character designs aren’t my cup of tea. But it’s at least something I may check out in the not so distant future or not. Pictures of the Wolverine anime can be seen below.
