Darker Then Black: Gemini of the Meteor - Episode Seven
This episode of Darker Then Black starts off with Russian Intelligence Agency finding out that Dr. Pavlichenko hid his son and that a SVR agent in Japan has found out that Dr. Pavlichenko is still alive. I thought that that way that Hei, Suou, July and Mao escaping Hokkaido was interesting by using an underworld transporter was interesting. Despite their underground taking July to try an sell as a doll, I thought that the scene where Suou pokes out her tongue at Hei was funny, as I find it that no other character in the series could get away with doing something like this.
Also I though that the scene where Suou uses broken glass fragments to attack their underground contact was cool, as Hei’s training has come in use in this episode. I thought that the new contractor that appeared in this episode that uses a brain narcotic
as his power was interesting.
Overall, I though that this episode was quite interesting as Suou treats July with some degree of dignity and respect, while Hei doesn’t. I thought seeing the different morals and value system that Suou and Hei have was interesting in regards to dolls.

Darker Then Black: Gemini of the Meteor - Episode Six
This episode of Darker Then Black: Gemini of the Meteor, starts off with the submarine arriving in the harbor, while Hei attacks a decoy which carries Shizume Genma, while Misaki and Norio’s mother are the real convoy. I thought that fight between Hei and armored Genma was interesting, as this episode showcases Hei experience as a contractor. At the harbor, I Suou and July end up escaping just from Hazuki Mina.
I thought it was interesting that Mao brought up the subject of Yin, as Yin plays an interesting role in this episode, when Norio attacks Suou in this episode. I thought that scene of Hei ringing up his employer Madame Oreille, was to provide some fan-service in this episode. I thought it was interesting in this episode that Hei’s and Suou’s relationship has developed interestingly, as Hei is starting to eat more in this series, and after telling Suou not to shoot anymore because she isn’t suited to it. I thought that Suou’s verbal comeback of a possible deal if Hei doesn’t drink anymore was interesting as it could provide an interesting possible conclusion to this series as the deal involved Suou not to shoot anymore. I thought that last scene of this series was interesting with Suou seeing Yin’s observer spirit, though Hei/Li not seeming to notice Yin’s observer spirit.
Overall, I thought that this episode was actually quite interesting, though I thought that Norio’s death wasn’t as emotional as I would have liked, though it did some emotional impact after Norio’s father comfort’s his son.

Darker Then Black: Gemini of the Meteor - Episode Five
This episode of Darker Then Black: Gemini of the Meteor starts of with the introduction of some new plot development, with the introduction of the Mitaka documents. The viewer learns when Suou turns into contractor mode, that there is one round in the chamber, and that there’s five in her pocket. I also thought it was interesting in this episode that Suou had decided to overcome her hatred for Li before running away. As this episode goes on, I thought it was interesting that the transvestite wife (Norio), was a contractor, before she disappeared.
I thought it was interesting that Li didn’t slap Suou despite shooting a hole in the hotel room, and that Suou requested to be slaped by Li on the left side to balance out the previous slap of the right side of her face. I thought that the short action that involved Li and Norio was short and sweet, as it remined me of Li in action from season one of Darker Then Black. I thought the scene of Suou making a meal for Li and July and herself was interesting, because it’s the first time in the series that Li has eaten anything, instead of drinking alcohol.
Overall, I thought that this episode was rather average, but this episode was mainly plot building for future episodes of Darker Then Black : Gemini of the Meteor.

Darker Then Black: Gemini of the Meteor - Episode Four
This episode starts off with Misaki meeting the contractor group of Shizume, Hazuki and Youko, but they are undercover by the name of Ichinose Yayoi from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Statistics Bureau, Research Section, 2nd Investigations Division, 3rd Assistant Chief Clerk. Misaki is brought up to speed that BK-201 has been working for the CIA. Misaki and the contractor group are given orders to capture BK-201 and Professor Mikhail Pavilchenko’s son, Shion.
I thought the little scene between Misaki and Youko was interesting in that it suggest that Li X Misaki might be an item in this season of Darker Then Black or not. I thought Li’s training of Suou to learn how to shoot and lie was sound, and I really liked how Suou stood up for herself against Li but pointing her sniper rifle at Li.
I thought it was interesting that this episode ended with Misaki meeting Madame Oreille at the end of this episode as it makes the next episode interesting. I thought the humor of Moa in Pecka’s body being chased by a cat was interesting karma.
Overall, I thought that this episode was a pretty solid episode and thinking that the absence of Yoko Kanno from doing the music in this series has been quite minimal, and the background music is still pretty good IMO (in my opinion).

Darker Then Black: Gemini of the Meteor - Episode Three
As the contractors group of Shizume, Hazuki and Youko seem to playing some role in this series I thought that Hazuki’s jokes about getting high moe points with Youko and Shizume in this episode was weird yet funny at the same time. I thought that this episode was interesting as the viewer got to see Hei/Li is different clothing while being chased in this episode. It seems that the setting with move from Russia to Ikebukuro in Japan. where Suou and Li are trying to track down Shion.
I thought that the interaction between Li and Suou in this episode was particular bit, particular when Suou cried herself to sleep when in Li’s hands. I thought that seeing Tanya in her new outfit in this episode looked really good on her, and fully understand her siding with the military of Russia, as deals happen in real life, and getting the best outcome for one’s self is the main thing right? I thought that the scene where the rifle comes out of Suou was pretty cool, and also thought the scene that followed where Suou shoot at Tanya, Shizume and Hazuki was pretty sweet, with July directing Suou where to shoot.
As it seems that Suou become sort of contractor in this episode and her remuneration is making paper cranes, I thought that this episode following up on Misaki was interesting as a little fan service and plot development also contributed to this episode being quite good. The only thing about this episode I disliked is the music when Moa leads Suou out of trouble, as the music reminded me of the movie Parpika for some odd reason.
Overall, this episode rocked, as this episode makes me want to get a poster and figure of Suou with her huge rifle, to display.

Darker Then Black: Gemini of the Meteor - Episode Two
This episode starts off of the cliffhanger ending of the previous episode, as deals with Li trying to rescue Suou from April and other contractors. The contractors that chase Suou are Shizume and Hazuki, with Youko proving support. I thought that the scene of Shizume and Hazuki kissing one another was interesting, as the previous season of Darker Then Black never showed contractors showing affection for one another.
My hopes were dashed when we learned that Shizume remuneration is kissing, and that she kissed Hazuki also. I thought seeing July again in this episode with the “Magician” was interesting, as it seems the CIA is looking for the meteor core. I thought it was cool seeing Shion Pavlichenko get under the Black Reaper’s skin, by putting up posters with Li’s face on it.
I thought that the opening scene of Shion learning to shoot hopefully, will have Shion using some sort of sniper rifle or rifle as indicated in promotional pictures of various Japanese anime magazines, to promote this series. As I thought that the “Magician” was a contractor had powers to distort areas around himself is a cool power, I was rather sad to him die in this episode, as I felt it was a bit of a waste, but hopefully the other contractor’s that appear in this series have cool powers, and have an interesting design and remuneration. I thought it was good to see Yin in this episode, though am wondering if she will actually appear in this series, considering how the previous series of Darker Then Black ended.
Overall, I thought that this episode lived to expectation, and hope the remaining episodes of Darker Then Black: Gemini of the Meteor is as good as this one. My thoughts regarding the opening and closing themes of Darker Then Black: Gemini of the Meteor, is that the I thought that I thought that it was interesting, and liked the scene of Li walking face back warded to the viewer, as it was a nice little tribute to the first opening theme of the previous Darker Then Black series, with Li walking forward toward face forwarded to the viewer. Regarding the ending theme, I liked the music and animation and put most series to shame this Fall 09 series of how to put together a good closing and opening theme. Also I thought that the action scenes in this episode were really sweet, and is an good example of how to produce and stage a good action scene(s).

Darker Then Black: Gemini of the Meteor - Episode One
The Grim Reaper is back, and Darker Then Black : Gemini of the Meteor starts off two years ago with Shion and her father talking about the stars, and when a star falls, is means a contractor has died. Soon after around the campfire Suou becomes a contractor. The episode moves two years forward in Vladivostock, where the viewer gets reintroduced with the contractor April, while also introducing another contractor called the “ Magician”. After the introduction of two contractors in this episode, the episode starts off with Suou witnessing Nika confessing to Tanya. After the viewer gets an insight into Suou’s life, the viewer learns a little bit about Shion twin brother, yet don’t understand yet if Suou’s twin brother is contractor or not.
The viewer learns in this episode that Suous has a pet animal named Pecka. As contractors in Japan are treated based upon their behaviour, I thought it was interesting that Contractors in Russia are taken into custody by the state agency to erase any proof of their existence. I thought that the contractor that appeared near the end of this episode that eats burgers as his remuneration, and seems to have the ability to run very quickly was interesting, as was seeing the contractor April in action.
I thought that the way this episode teased the viewer about Hei’s appearance in this episode, really built up the Grim Reaper or BK 201 appearing in this episode. Overall, I thought that this episode was really good despite Yoko Kanno to the best or my knowledge not comprising the soundtrack for this show. As this episode only had a closing theme, I’ll review the closing and opening theme when they both air.

Darker Than Black - Episode Twenty Six
As episode twenty five of Darker then Black ended the series well IMO, this extra episode of Darker Then Black follows the aftermath of the previous episode, and this episode is more humour based.
The humor in this episode takes on many forms, such as a female cat chasing after Moa throughout this episode, and the topic of pollen being discussed in this episode.
This episode follows Mayu Ootsuka, a member of the 4th Foreign Affairs Department, and she’s into anime, doujin’s and manga. As Mayu’s hobby is writing stories, she’s trying to write a story, where the hero of the story wears a mask. This episode deals with a contractor stealing some object from the gate, and an episode for the anime called The Rose of Maurice, holds the key to this stolen object.
If you are looking for an episode of Darker Then Black that is similar in mood/tone to the previous twenty five episodes of this series, then you will not really enjoy this episode. If you are looking for an episode that is light, and have some time to spare, then this episode will satisfy you.

Darker Than Black - Episode Twenty Five
As this is the last episode of Darker than Black, it’s the episode where the plot about the E.P.R and the syndicate’s plan to wipe out all contractors wants to occur, in this episode. I liked how this episode include a little screen time to Misaki’s two male workers, as I have liked how they have contributed to this series, despite the limited screen time they have got in this series.
This episode revealed a little bit more about Bai, and the contractor powers he had, though I would have liked a better explanation then that electricity was one of the powers that Bai had, coming from Amber.
I thought the scene where Li meets Bai was like the scene in Evangelion, where everybody is saying congratulations to him, but in this episode everybody is saying bye to Li. Seeing all the misc characters that appeared in this show with Li, Bai and Amber I thought was a nice touch, as I like directors that can use the misc characters in the show, and make them have some sort of impact on the ending of the show.
I liked how this episode ended with the two of Misaki’s fellow detectives capture a contractor similar to episode one’s opening scene, where Hei takes down a contractor. I thought that scene felt a little like the ending to Melody of Oblivion, where time is repeating itself, but with characters in different roles.
Overall, I felt that this series was pretty good, as I liked the story arc approach, to give character depth to various characters in this show. If time permits I may rank each story according to my opinion. I felt that Yoko Kanno did a good job with providing music to this show, as her music did add to the feeling of scenes, and provide that energy and excitement to keep a viewer from watching the show. The animation of Bones I felt was consistent and of a high quality. I thought the character designs of the show was appealing, and provided some nice fresh characters to the anime industry. Misaki character design IMO was the best female IMO (anime shows need more mature women with glasses), and Hei/Li’s design was very good for a main lead.
Darker than Black seems to me is another Bones show that will enhance the studio’s reputation, and I’m hoping that there’s more quality anime project’s for year’s to come. I still holding out hope that some Li X Misaki fan fiction or doujin’s will surface.
